Depression
Everyone has days when they feel blue.  A healthy existence can be full of life's normal
struggles, losses, trials and injuries, which can produce sadness in anyone.

Symptoms of clinical depression appear different from the normal doldrums that everyone
feels once in a while.  Depression in this case is more intense and lasts longer.  It can keep us
from doing the things we have to do, or even love to do.

Here are some signs of possible depression:

    •    Feelings of sadness, despair, loneliness or emptiness which seem never ending
    •    Feelings of guilt, hopelessness or worthlessness which don't go away
    •    Loss of interest or pleasure in former hobbies or other activities, including sex
    •    Loss of energy, feelings of fatigue
    •    Loss of sleep, or over-sleeping
    •    Appetite/weight loss, or overeating and weight gain
    •    Difficulty concentrating, remembering things or making decisions
    •    Anger or irritability
    •    Thinking or talking about death or suicide, or suicide attempts (seek professional help
immediately if this is the case)

The symptoms of clinical depression are often combined with symptoms of anxiety.
